Troop History
Who We Are
Troop 775 was established in 1965 under the Charter Organization of the United Methodist Church of Westlake Village, California. Recently, Troop 775 moved under the Charter Organization of Temple Adat Elohim, Thousand Oaks, California.
Our mission is to prepare young men to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime through the development of strong character, leadership abilities, and an understanding of social responsibility.
Our Troop is a “boy-led” Troop under the supervision of the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters and supported by a large number of parents who actively serve in a host of leadership roles. We have a Troop Committee comprised of parents who act as a Board of Governors for the Troop.
Over the years, our Troop has been the recipient of many awards including Quality Unit, but our proudest accomplishment is each of the over 100 young men of our Troop who have attained the rank of Eagle Scout. Nationally, only 4% of Scouts attain this rank.
Our Troop engages in a wide variety of a high adventure activities including backpacking, kayaking, rock climbing, rifle shooting, rocket launching, cycling, white water rafting, small boat sailing and more to address the diversity of interests of the boys and help them gain the necessary knowledge and skills to engage in each of these activities. In the process, our young men do a lot of camping and master a host of outdoor skills.
